Place of Hope Shelter
In over 90% of victims cases of sexual violence, their offenders are family members living in the same house. This makes it difficult for the survivors who do not report due to fear of insecurity. Most of the survivors are young and end up having babies. With no one to support them, they end up getting married, while others become homeless and end up as prostitutes.
Wounded Healers provide a short-term, beautiful, clean, comfortable shelter – ‘The City of Peace’ where survivors can feel safe and loved. At these shelters, survivors can rest, heal, become a part of a community, and grow with support from each other and professionals. The shelter also provides an opportunity for learning a skill and discovering how to take back their lives.
The city of Peace is a gated community with front and back gates. The front gate has access to boarding rooms, library, living room, dining room & kitchen, and the administration offices; only for girls rescued from the violence and staff taking care of them.
